Old Wives Tales

The collection of old wives tales below are based on my personal experience that I have tested over the years. However, I do not guarantee that they will or will not work for everybody.

Chicken Leg Myth

Give baby a chicken leg to chew on his first birthday Reason

The child will always have food to eat for the rest of his/her life

True or False?

Answer: True

The Chinese have several rituals to perform during a baby’s first birthday celebrations. One of them is to give the baby a chicken leg to chew on. This is to symbolically represent that the child will always have food to eat for the rest of his or her life. It does not mean that the child will be wealthy but that he or she will never starve. Maybe this is why there are very few Chinese beggars in the world.
