The truth about DHA and ARA in formula milk
By Cecilia Koh
The information provided below is a general guide and is not meant to replace your doctor's advice. If you have any problems or questions, please refer to your doctor.
Breast milk contains DHA (an omega-3 fatty acid) and ARA (an omega-6 fatty acid), two important nutrients for brain development in infants. Naturally, every mother wants to breastfeed her baby as long as possible. However, some mothers face real struggles with nursing or cannot breastfeed therefore they have to use infant formula. In an effort to boost their sales, infant formula makers have added DHA and ARA to many of their products to make the products "closer than ever to breast milk." But studies have proven that DHA and ARA may not only be ineffective, but in fact more harmful.ANONYMOUS COMMENTING DISABLED
